AmoreMagazine.com's Kate Casey: This Kardashian Union Probably Won't Last

Kimkardashiankrishumphries1
I am not proud to admit that I watched the Kardashian wedding on Monday night. I knowingly contributed to the nonsensical empire that is the Kardashian name. What I can tell you is this... This marriage will probably not last. I know, I know... Where is my optimism for true love? Where is my belief in eternal love? I still believe in those things, but just not between these two airheads. Let me give you some observations.

- When Kim tried to explain to her fianc?e yet again that marrying her means accepting her lifestyle and "work ethic" he laughed at her. His response? "Work ethic? Only four years ago you were a sales girl at a clothing store in the Valley."

- No one in her family seems to like him. Most of them question his motives for being with her and no one seems keen on his personality or lack thereof.

- He calls her mother "granny" to her face.

- After arguing about Kim's disinterest in getting any of his feedback on wedding plans he suggests that she is just looking for anyone to fill the spot of groom.

- Kim's mother made plans for the entire family to ride in luxury cars to the wedding, but neglected to do the same for the groom's family.

- He thinks she spends too much money and needs to live more modestly.

- She admitted most people hate them when they first meet him.

- He refused to sample the wedding cake samples because he refuses to eat sweets.

Now I am not a marriage counselor and I have yet to receive my paperwork to officiate at any ceremonies, but I would think someone would have stepped in at some point and pointed out the obvious. Before you jump into a quickie marriage and spend millions of dollars on an over the top ceremony, you might want to think about the potential longevity of your union. You should put just as much thought into whether or not you can live together as you should put into what three dresses you want to wear at your reception. Plus, chances are if your entire family hates your future spouse, there is probably a reason.

Then I read this report from Life & Style, the Wall Street Journal of reality television reporting. (I kid).

Kim Kardashian thought her dreams came true when she said ?I do? to Kris Humphries on Aug. 20 ? but now the cold, ?hard? reality of their marriage is creeping in. Sources say that Kim?s completely torn apart by how married life is turning out ? and that she?s totally let down by Kris. He?s not the man that she thought she married! ?Kim?s miserable,? a show source tells Life & Style magazine. ?They?re always fighting.? Kim?s said so herself. ?I didn?t know marriage was going to be so hard,? she grieved to a friend at Clover Nails on Oct. 9 in NYC. ?With all this travel and work, it?s been a big adjustment for both of us.? ?She doesn?t feel like she?s ready for the commitment,? a friend shares. ?Kim feels this all happened too soon, that she didn?t take time to get to know Kris. She?s embarrassed ? she rushed into things, and now she?s stuck.?

They are always fighting, and they were married weeks ago. Maybe another sign you made the wrong decision? Did I also mention the couple were barely speaking the night of their rehearsal dinner? Awesome. Well done.

Again, I hate to be the Debbie Downer here, but I am thinking this one could be kaput by early next year. So what do you do with all the leftover monogrammed candles? Did you know they came up with their own candle scene for the occasion? Interesting how perfecting the combination of sandalwood and vanilla tones are more important than deciding where you will live post-wedding. My sister used to tell me that you should date someone through four seasons before making anything serious. The reason being that an entire year should give you just enough time to figure out if you can make it some sort of distance. (Or she thought you need to see how the other person celebrates St. Patrick?s, Labor, and Secretary?s Day). Jumping into a wedding so you can secure higher ratings for your television show or marrying someone because you want to land yourself a t-shirt line one day is not exactly ideal.
