SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
Continuing in its series of charitable outreach activities, Dolan Automotive Group announces the $30,000 School Upgrade Project, now through February 2012. Principals of all public K ? 12 schools in Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey and Washoe Counties are invited to participate in the contest, which awards three schools with $10,000 each to fund projects benefitting students as a whole. This is the second school-related giveaway Dolan Automotive Group has hosted in recent months, in addition to major donations this holiday season to Toys for Tots and Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and its ?Giving Thanks? promotion, which awarded a total of $6,000 to individuals for community service projects.
From January 4 through February 14, the project encourages principals in northern Nevada to submit a proposal explaining how students or schools would benefit from the donation on the ?School Upgrade? tab of the Group?s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/DolanAutomotiveGroup. Project proposals then go through two rounds of voting by fans of the page and the top three vote-earners receive $10,000 each to fund the proposed school project. One elementary, one middle and one high school will be selected to receive funding.
?Education is very important to us and we?re grateful we can help support Nevada?s students along their way, may it be through new technology or new programs, we?re happy to help,? said Ryan Dolan, CEO of Dolan Automotive Group. ?We hope to see students and faculty come together to create innovative and useful proposals.?
All ?School Upgrade? submissions must be entered by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The first round of voting takes place Wednesday, Feb.15 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 when the top four submissions in each category advance to round two. From the top four elementary, middle and high school entries, fans begin a second round of voting from Wednesday, Feb. 22 through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 to select the three winning schools. Winners are announced Wednesday, Feb. 29 and checks awarded March 1 ? 2. Project proposals are at the discretion of the principal and only one proposal per school is accepted. Principals must be K-12 public school employees in Carson, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey or Washoe County to enter.
In August, Dolan Automotive Group began its first effort to help schools in northern Nevada with its $50,000 Class Project Giveaway. With more than 100 class projects submitted and more than 27,000 votes cast, Dolan Automotive Group awarded 20 schools in Carson, Lyon and Washoe Counties $2,500 each for projects ranging from technology upgrades to field trips and music programs.
?The success of last year?s $50,000 Class Project was a great reminder of why we invest in Nevada?s education,? added Dolan. ?We?re excited to see what the top three schools will do with the larger donation. And of course, we?ll be using the Facebook page again to continue to engage the northern Nevada community.?
