They may have not even been alive when Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy" was a huge hit in 1975, but the two women seen sitting down and texting while most of the Grammy audience gave the singer a standing ovation for the song?did not get a free pass from viewers.
Campbell, who revealed in June that he has Alzheimer's disease, delighted many with a lively performance of the hit. While most of the audience stood and sang along, CBS cameras clearly showed?two women sitting down and typing on electronic devices while the audience applauded Campbell's number.
Actress Kristen Chenoweth tweeted, "Tweeting from audience rather than standing and applauding a living legend like Glen Campbell is simply rude."
Comedian Todd Barry agreed, tweeting "Awful women who were texting during Glen Campbell's ovation should publicly apologize."?
Campbell was joined onstage by Blake Shelton and The Band Perry. Also winning lifetime achievement awards were George Jones,?"The Girl from Ipanema" composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, Memphis Horns,?Gil Scott-Heron and the?Allman Brothers Band.
