The New Mexico Lobos evened their record at 2-2 following a 27-14 victory over their in-state rivals, the New Mexico St. Aggies. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak in the Rio Grande Rivalry for the Lobos, who had won six straight before then (2003-08). They now hold a 67-31-5 advantage over the Aggies.
The New Mexico ground attack did the damage against the Aggies, scoring three rushing touchdowns. Jhurell Presley had scoring plays of 7 yards and 1 yard while Kasey Carrier ran 29 yards for his. Carrier led the team with 121 of the team's 302 rushing yards.
Kicker Justus Adams added field goals of 24 and 29 yards. Quarterback B.R. Holbrook completed 11 of 18 passes for 92 yards.
New Mexico State's Andrew Manley finished 22-of-34 for 256 yards and a touchdown, a 23-yard pass to Austin Franklin in the final minutes of the game. Franklin caught six balls for 107 yards.
New Mexico (2-2) hosts Boise State next Saturday. New Mexico State (1-3) hosts the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners next week.
