Ricky Hatton advises Pacquiao to retire ? Boxing News

It seems like fate has twisted itself on Manny Pacquiao, a Filipino fight king who ended the careers of several top-notch fighters including Ricky Hatton of the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, Pacquiao suffered the same fate at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez earlier this month. Pacquiao was knocked out in the sixth round, and he lied motionless on the canvas for a couple of seconds.

Hatton, who recently made his comeback against Vyacheslav Senchenko but he failed to make a mark. For Hatton, that was it. He once again called it a day believing fighting is no longer his business. Now, Hatton believes Pacquiao should do the same.

?The only advice I could give Manny Pacquiao is that his legacy is already secured,? said Hatton to ESPN.com.

?The thing is with us fighters is that there is always one more fight. What's he going to achieve by having one more fight? Probably nothing. He's an eight-weight world champion. There's nothing more to be said.?

Pacquiao lost to Marquez in their fourth fight which was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. For every Pac-man fan, it was a shock to see their hero fall. However, Pacquiao has taken the defeat lightly, accepting his mistakes and trying to move on.

?You'd like to see him go into retirement and spend some time with his family and be happy. He can't do any more from a boxing point of view,? said Hatton.

Pacquiao was the man who sent Hatton into retirement via second round knockout in 2009. Now, Hatton believes it is Pac-man?s turn to follow the same.

?I won't be fighting again. I got what I wanted from my comeback even though it ended in a defeat. I needed to find out if I still had it, and I haven't got it, and I can move on now.?

Despite the fact that most of his supporters want him to retire, Pacquiao is insisting on taking on Marquez for a fifth time next year. Probably, Pacquiao believes he can knockout the Mexican. Surely, the Filipino was close to knocking the Mexican legend out, only if he? had not made the mistake of walking into Marquez?s trap.
